The tube itself is extruded from fire retardant, clear polycarbonate LEXAN® plastic, which is an unbreakable material, to help withstand impact and protect the lamp and its contents. The LIGHTNING, Inc., premium tubeguard comes with advance designed endcaps that will not only keep the tube held in place off the bulb, but will also allow interior gases to release, increasing the life of the lamp. The endcaps are made of a high heat resistant polypropylene luminous light white/clear material that will better facilitate bulb function by not prohibiting lamp light output as the older black caps do. The inside fitting endcap and the endcap color allows the tubeguard to blend with the fixture, creating a more aesthetically pleasing, less intrusive look.
